Apple Store Fraud

| | Comments (0)
This week I bought the Logic Pro 7 Upgrade from Logic Pro 6, at the Apple Store in Lynnwood, WA. It costs $300.

The Apple Store web site says this is the upgrade to 7.1.

So I bring it home and install it, and it only went to 7.0. They don't know what they are doing in the Apple Store in Lynnwood, WA, and so they don't keep their pro app boxes up to date.

The separate 7.1 upgrade costs $20 online.

So I call the store. They say, no, you only get up to 7.0. Uh, no, I don't. The web site says 7.1. No, the web site says 7.0! Look at the title: "Logic Pro 7 Upgrade from Pro 6!" Uh, but the description says, "Updates any existing Logic Gold/Platinum 5 or 6 or Logic Pro 6 user to Logic Pro 7.1."

Oh.

I wait on AppleHold(tm) while they dink around. They finally say my only option is to return it to them. They can't credit me $20, they can't send me the thing for free. I can only return it. Except that I already installed it on my XSKey, so I don't know how that works. Plus, my time and gas money to drive to Lynnwood is worth a lot more than $20.

So here we are, they screwed me through their incompetence, and have no way to rectify the situation, because they lack the ability to send me a product their own company makes, or to credit my card for the $20 they screwed me out of.

Some days Apple sucks. Many days. And I won't do business at their damned retail stores anymore, because they are powerless to fix a problem if they screw you.

Update: I forgot to mention that I contacted the Apple Store online people. They said I had to work with the retail store, that they couldn't do anything about it. So, contacting Apple directly doesn't seem to do anything either.
