Madame Speaker
Nancy Pelosi is not the House Speaker-Elect, as Saturday Night Live said. OK, it's only SNL, but even NewsHour's Margaret Warner the other night addressed Pelosi as "Madam speaker-to-be".
She has not been elected. When the new Congress holds an election, she will, or will not, be elected. Calling her "Madam speaker-to-be" would have been like calling Bob Corker "Senator-to-be" a few months ago, just because he was leading in the polls and was likely to be elected.
